What is Parenting out of Fear?

As parents, our intentions and emotions greatly influence the way we nurture and guide our children. Parenting out of love, rather than fear, can have a profound impact on both the parent-child relationship and the overall development of our little ones.

Parenting out of fear could look like:

-Not letting your child sleep in your bed after a nightmare because your afraid you will have to do it every night.

-Not allowing your child to respectfully voice their opinions because other adults might find it under minding.

-Not allowing your child to climb a tree of any height because your afraid they will fall.

-Taking away a bottle by one year old out of fear of being judged or fear that your child will never be weaned, although it may be easier on the child to wait a month or two because your family will be moving, changing daycares or experiencing another major life event.

Parenting out of love requires trust in yourself to recognize your child's needs and abilities.
